On the back of the success of our Pilot project, I have continued working with SARSAS to deliver creative workshops for women who have experienced sexual violence. I have developed the course so that we now have a series of six, 2 hour workshops that provide a safe, inspiring space where women can explore their creative potential. Over the course we work with collage, clay, textiles, creative writing and mixed media; exploring themes of personal creativity, resilience, nature, the seasons, and calm spaces.
I have worked with UWE pscyhologists Dr. Emma Halliwell and Dr Nicola Holt throughout this process to evaulate the effectiveness of this trauma informed methodology. Nicola Holt and I presented this research at the Culture, Health and Wellbeing International Conference in June 2021 and displayed a poster on the research at the Sexual Violence and Abuse Health Research Network (SVaHRN) in November 2021. I ran a Creative Collage workshop based on this methodology at the Beyond Therapy Festival of activism against child sexual abuse, held at the Watershed in May 2022.
